The TEEX US&R division currently offers a Wide Area Search course that is funded by the Department of Homeland Security and is offered to any eligible jurisdiction at no cost. The course is delivered at the host jurisdiction location. All printed materials and instructors are provided by TEEX US&R. The only requirement for this course is that the jurisdiction provide a classroom and ensure that the minimum number of students attend the entire course.
Wide Area Search (this course is offered at no cost to any eligible jurisdiction) – This 24-hour (3-day) course is designed for search specialists who will be required to conduct a wide area search of an incident site, such as after a tornado, a flood, or a hurricane. This course is appropriate for Technical and Canine Search Specialists as well as Search Team Managers, or any other responder with a solid base of knowledge in search skills and techniques.
