Preparing search and rescue teams worldwide for the unthinkable is what sets TEEX and Disaster City® apart. Located in College Station, Texas, this 52-acre urban search and rescue training facility delivers the full array of skills and techniques needed by today’s US&R teams.
Major TEEX search and rescue training programs include:
TEEX’s US&R training features instructors who have responded to some of the largest disasters on record, including the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks, the space shuttle Columbia incident and Hurricane Katrina.
TEEX offers a full complement of structural collapse courses, technical rescue courses, swiftwater rescue training, medical and hazardous materials training, command and ICS training, technical and canine search courses as well as disaster canine weekend workshops for search and rescue dogs and handlers.
Disaster City® is also host to full scale operational readiness exercise throughout the year that test a team’s entire response capabilities, including all major functional areas: search, rescue, medical, hazmat/CBRNE detection, logistics, communications, decontamination, and command.
TEEX is the sponsoring agency for Texas Task Force 1, one of 28 national urban search and rescue teams under FEMA and is Texas’ only Type 1 statewide team under direction of the Governor’s Division of Emergency Management. Texas Task Force 1 also includes one of the country’s most extensive water rescue programs.
