Central Texas Police Academy
The Central Texas Police Academy (CTPA) incorporates the latest technology and instructional techniques for training entry-level law enforcement professionals. CTPA is the primary training provider for law enforcement agencies in the Brazos Valley area, but also accepts recruits from all over Texas. The dedicated instructional staff has earned a statewide reputation for graduating some of the most outstanding cadets in Texas. CTPA's day and evening academies are conducted at Texas A&M University's Riverside Campus in Bryan, Texas. CTPA is licensed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE).

Weapons of Mass Destruction TrainingPolice Training
TEEX coordinates a multi-agency effort to design, develop and implement a program preparing first responders in local communities to manage events involving terrorism and weapons of mass destruction (WMD). Through the TEEX National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center, the law enforcement community is being prepared to identify potential threats and manage an incident involving WMD. TEEX provides jurisdictions across the country with hands-on, scenario-driven training and exercises, computer-based simulations, state-of-the-art human patient simulators, Internet-based WMD responder training, train-the-trainer programs and extension training.

Threat and Risk Assessment
To prepare multi discipline teams of emergency responders, and response managers at all levels, the processes and techniques involved in conducting needs assessments of the jurisdiction’s or state’s capability to respond to terrorist attacks. The assessment is based on the application of known terrorist elements and their perceived weapons capability within identified planning scenarios. Participants learn the skills necessary to evaluate current responder capabilities and determine the responder shortfalls in the areas of response task accomplishment. Shortfalls are then separated into solution areas of planning, organization, equipment, training and exercises and resources are applied to eliminate or reduce the identified shortfalls.

Site Vulnerability Assessment
A new TEEX initiative is aimed at mitigating the potential consequences of a terrorist attack by conducting site-specific vulnerability assessments of potential target sites in a community. The assessment identifies needed security enhancements for the site and may become part of the community’s needs assessment.
